Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and will shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to satisfy the subsequent requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a home by using a combined gross residence earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined family cash flow won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and wish not submit any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the correct Id Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are finding out or intend to research in a public university or TVET college in nsfas status South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
